Mini-Work Camp is scheduled at St. James Gettysburg on August 14 & 15, 2021. Free online registration is available below.

What is the purpose of Mini-Work Camp?

The goal of Mini-Work Camp is to provide 5th grade and younger kids and their families an opportunity to

  • Complete service projects within St. James and the local community
  • Learn a little about what goes on during the week-long Middle School and High School workcamps
  • Fellowship through service and fun activities

Do I have to attend the whole time?

While we would love for you to attend the whole time, it is understandable that you may not be able to. Just check the times you will be attending on the registration form.

Do parents /guardians have to attend?

Parents / guardians are encouraged to attend to both experience it themselves as well as provide an example of the service lifestyle to all the kids attending. However, if a parent / guardian cannot attend for any or all of Mini-Work Camp, that is ok, as the first focus is getting the kids involved.

Do I have to be grouped with my child?

No, you do not. If you would prefer to be grouped with your child, please add that comment to your registration form.

Will food be provided?

All food and drinks will be provided.

Do I need any skills to attend?

The only skills required are the willingness to help, learn, and participate.

What projects will be worked on?

At this point, we have not finalized all the projects. We can tell you the groups will be assigned to projects based on age for the children and everyone will/should feel within their skill set to participate in their project. Projects could range from cleaning to weeding to gleaning to painting to small construction projects.

Are we really spending the night at the church?

Yes, we are! Bring your sleeping bag / air mattress / sheets and we will set you up in one of the many rooms of the church.

What should I wear /bring?

Please wear work clothing as some projects may require you to get down and dirty. Also, bring a change of clothes and something to sleep on (sheets, sleeping bag, etc.)
