Our Sunday School is from 9:30 to 10:30 am for all classes.

Sunday School

During the school year, children from ages 2 through 6th grade meet in age-grouped classes.

St. James has a three-year confirmation program for grades 7, 8, and 9 which meets in the Dining Room. Our pastors and several enthusiastic adult mentors serve as confirmation leaders. There is a weekend confirmation retreat for 9th graders and a special homelessness immersion weekend in Washington, DC, attended by our 7th & 8th graders together.

High School

Our Youth Minister leads our High School Sunday School class which meets in the Keyser-Foltz Youth House at 121/123 York St.

Adult Classes

On Sundays year-round, there are six adult classes which provide a variety of learning experiences. Some classes focus on Bible Study, other classes focus on current social issues, and other classes highlight Christian life issues.  The best advice is to try several out and choose one which fits your needs and interests!

Bible Study

During the week from September through May, we offer two Bible Study groups:

  • Wednesdays at 10:00 am, Pastor Mike leads a weekly Bible Study on the upper floor (an elevator is available).
  • Thursdays at 10:00 am, Lucinda Bringman leads a weekly Bible Study in the gathering area, preceded with a fellowship.

Vacation Bible School

St. James joins with Christ Lutheran and Prince of Peace Episcopal Churches each summer for Vacation Bible School.  This week-long program for children ages 3 through 5th grade combines music, Bible stories, crafts, games, and of course snack!

VBS 2018 will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 30 Chambersburg Street, Gettysburg the week of June 18-27, Monday-Friday, 9:00-11:30 am.
