Jessica L. Smith

Youth Minister

“I am so excited to begin my time with you all at St. James! While originally from Georgia, I have been living in the northeast for a few years now and cannot wait to escape the busy city life in Washington, DC. I began working with youth while I was in college, and organized summer workcamps for many years in Milwaukee, WI and Nashville, TN (two of my most favorite cities!). My love for youth work led me to seminary in Philadelphia, where I studied a lot and ate way too many cheesesteaks. When I graduated last year, I began a job with the Lutheran Volunteer Corps doing outreach and fundraising work. Though I have still been able to work with young adults during their year of service and discernment, I am overjoyed to be diving into full time youth work again!

A little more about me: I am a hardcore Georgia Bulldogs football fan, I love to go running, cycling, hiking, and skiing; cereal is my favorite food for anytime of the day, and I am terrible at bowling. I am looking forward to getting to know you all in the coming weeks! Gratefully, Jessica”
